Microsoft 365 Services Affected by Outage
The issues should be largely fixed soon.
If you had some issues with Microsoft 365 services on Monday, you weren’t alone. Microsoft was working to fix an outage affecting many of its 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint Online. Impacted users had also reported interruptions to programs like OneDrive, Purview, Copilot, and Outlook Web and Desktop.
Microsoft itself has confirmed that the outages have interrupted Exchange Online via Outlook on the web, Outlook desktop client, Representational State Transfer (REST), and Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) as well as Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Bookings, and Microsoft Defender for Office365.
Microsoft first mentioned the issue by stating: “We’re investigating an issue impacting users attempting to access Exchange Online or functionality within Microsoft Teams calendar. For more information, please refer to MO941162 in the admin center…While we continue to work on mitigating the issue, we’ve added a comprehensive list of impacted services and scenarios to the more info section.”
As of Tuesday morning, the issues should have largely been resolved. The company had rolled out a fix Monday, which help many, but not all, users: “We’ve started to deploy the fix which is currently progressing through the affected environment. While this progresses, we’re beginning manual restarts on a subset of machines that are in an unhealthy state…We’re monitoring the progress of the fix, which has been deployed to approximately 60% of the affected environments. We’re continuing our manual restarts on the remaining impacted machines.”
“Targeted server restarts are underway to address routing service issues, with priority on customers who are currently in business hours or beginning their business day.”
If you are still experiencing any issues with your Microsoft 365 services, they should be fixed soon.
