Nike is set to open a Technology Center in Atlanta in roughly a year. By early 2023, the company will have a West Midtown facility, geared toward a number of technical activities.

One of the highlights of the facility is Nike’s “cybersecurity command center.” The details of the facility are a little light as of this report, but it comes at a time when cybersecurity across industries is in turmoil. The more investments our companies make into cybersecurity, the better shape our networks and organizations will be in.

While details may be sparse, it does seem cybersecurity is an important tech issue for Nike: The company named Dr. Mona-Lisa Pinkney to head the new Technology Center, who was previously the senior director of cybersecurity for Nike. Not only that, Dr. Pinkney also has a hand in Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS). While the facility won’t solely focus on cybersecurity, hiring a cybersecurity expert for the top job seems to indicate an interest for the company in this field.

Aside from cybersecurity ventures, Nike is also using the new facility to expand its “digital-first supply chain and logistics operations,” as well as to “reimagine customer experiences” using machine learning and artificial intelligence.
