The ongoing conflict—and now war—between Russia and Ukraine is dangerous in many ways, not least of which in terms of cybersecurity vulnerabilities. As the war presses on, you’ll need to be on the lookout for Russian cyberattacks, since the country often exploits cybersecurity as part of its military strategy.
As reported by Forbes, these are the top cyberattacks feared to be used by the Russians:
- Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs)
- Malware
- Ransomware
- DDoS
- Network attacks
- Zero-Day vulnerabilities
- Code flaw vulnerabilities
- Privilege escalation
- Data anomalies
- Network anomalies
It is imperative you look out for these types of attacks, whether you are an individual or an organization.
To keep your devices and networks safe, be sure to patch all security vulnerabilities. That means if you have any outstanding security updates, install them now. Known security vulnerabilities are sure to be exploited by bad actors.
Equally as important is to make sure you have MFA set up for your various accounts. MFA will ensure bad actors cannot sign into your accounts without access to your trusted devices. You can enable MFA via text messages, or by using an authenticator app.
