If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, you now have a way to make your battery last longer in between charges—all automatically and in the background.

That’s thanks to iOS 26, Apple’s latest update for iPhone. While many iPhones before the 15 Pro can update, only the latter can take advantage of the new “Adaptive Power” setting, which uses AI to extend your iPhone’s battery life.

Here’s how it works: iOS will note when your iPhone is using more battery power than usual. Maybe you’ve been taking a lot of high resolution videos, or your GPS is taking a toll on the battery. In these moments, Adaptive Power kicks in automatically, reducing your iPhone’s total performance in the name of saving battery life.

Apple doesn’t say all of the actions iOS will take to save on power, but it does include things like lowering display brightness, increasing the time it takes to perform some tasks, as well as kicking on Low Power Mode.

In all likelihood, the biggest difference Adaptive Power makes is limiting the performance power of your iPhone’s processor. By putting a cap on its potential, it will slow things down, but all in and effort to keep your battery running longer.

If you have a compatible iPhone, you’ll find the setting after updating to iOS 26 in Settings -> Battery -> Power Mode.
