Summer Travel Reminder: Back Up Your Files

Summer is nearly here, which means many of us are about to hit the road for trips and vacations. If you plan on taking your work with you, there’s something you should do before you leave the office: back up your files.
We’re fortunate to live in a time where work can be accessed from just about anywhere with an internet connection. But no connection is going to be good enough if you can’t access your files. If you leave important work stuck a local system back at the office or at your home, it’s going to stay there until you get back from your trip. That could put a damper on your vacation.
Avoid the stress and back up your important files now before you leave them behind. This is good practice even if you aren’t going on a trip anytime soon: Maybe you’ll find yourself in a situation where you need to access a Word document or a presentation while out and about, but can’t, because it’s not backed up to the cloud. Maintaining a frequent cloud back up means you can open your work wherever you are.
Don’t bother emailing yourself the files you think are most important. The easiest way to make sure your work is accessible is to back up your files to OneDrive. Anytime you save a file, head to File > Save a Copy > OneDrive – Personal. You can manually add files and folders to OneDrive from the app, from Add new > Files upload or Folder upload > Folder. You can also set up OneDrive on your desktop, which makes it easy to sync files and access both locally and from the cloud.
Before you leave your home or office for any reason this summer, back up your files to OneDrive. It’s a great way to always ensure easy-access to important documents no matter where you are.
